Hunters of the Dream Release and Giveaway!

Ingrid Koivukangas, author of the Young Adult fantasy novel, Hunters of the Dream,

is today's guest blogger. Welcome, Ingrid! Tell us about methods of clearing negative energy.

Methods of Clearing Negative Energy

Have you ever felt out of sorts and not been sure why? Felt tired and irritable, or cold for no reason? Had things fall on you when you opened a cupboard? Kept having accidents? Suddenly started having bad dreams? Maybe you have negative energy attached to you.

 We are each affected by the world around us on many levels, including the subtle energy level. Negative energy can become attached to our aura. Our auras are the electromagnetic energy field that surrounds our bodies and expands up to three feet away from our physical body. The negative thoughts of others, directed towards us can negatively affect us and attach to our subtle energy body. Ever been with someone who just drains your energy and you’re exhausted by the time you leave? That can impact your energy too, long after they have left. There are a few ways of clearing this type of negative energy.

Here are a few visualization methods, Nana Brin teaches, Aurora in Hunters of the Dream, to clear negative energy and protect herself. Like Nana Brin, I recommend calling in protection before doing any type of visualization work. This can be as simple as imaging yourself stepping into a bubble of pink, or white, light that surrounds you and protects you or just visualizing yourself surrounded with white light.

1 - Salt Water Shower
You can do it the next time you’re having a shower. Just close your eyes and imagine that the water coming out of the shower is salt water. As the salt water cleanses your body, it also burns away anything that may have become attached to you. You may sense these attachments fizzling and smoking as they disengage from you. They are harmless and are swept down the drain with the salt water.

2 - Stepping into a Candle Flame
This is a very quick and easy method to use. Close your eyes and imagine yourself stepping directly into the white-hot flame of a brightly burning candle. As you step into the flame, you can sense any negative energy and attachments burning away. The negative energy cannot follow you into the flames. Stay in the flame until you feel ready to leave.

3 - Mirror Circle
Visualize yourself stepping into a circle made of tall, framed mirrors that are lying facedown on the floor. Once you are standing inside the center of this circle, say ‘Shields up!’ Imagine all of the mirrors quickly standing up to form a tight circle around you. The mirrors catch any negative energy being directed towards you and reflect it back to the sender.

4 - Ocean Cleansing
During this visualization imagine yourself at the shores of the ocean. You are in a safe and protected bay with no one else around. Walk towards the water and immerse yourself in the salty ocean. With each step you take into the water, you can feel any and all attachments being burned away, safely removed by the water. This method is one of my favorites and I’ve had orca come to help me remove really deeply embedded attachments, which completely dissipate and dissolve in the sea.

I’ve prepared a special Ocean Cleansing Meditation, that is available through the Enter a World of Wonder website. Enter a World of Wonder is a membership site where readers can continue their journey into the world of Hunters of the Dream. You can get a free download of the meditation here: http://bit.ly/EnteraWorldofWonder

BLURB:

When the summer holidays begin, Aurora thinks she’s just a normal teenager about to have another boring summer. Then, for her seventeenth birthday, Nana Brin gives her a long-silent Oracle that has been passed down through their family for generations. The mysterious Oracle soon awakens in response to the creeping Darkness that is escaping and destroying all worlds. Aurora must quickly find the courage to come to terms with her calling as the Huntress of the Dream.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
The cards rustled, shifting in their dusty threadbare bag. They had lain dormant, forgotten, for generations. The Oracle woke slowly, like a hound sniffing the wind, trying to catch the scent of what had disturbed it, before calling forth a warning. The Oracle bristled. Attuned to the subtle vibrations of the Worlds it sensed a shifting in the balance of energy. The Darkness was once again pulsing, sending out tendrils of elusive gloom. It too had lain waiting, patiently. Over time it had slowly gained power, recruiting those it could ensnare with its black promises. It could not yet escape from the confines of the agreement reached during the Great Darkness...but soon the winds would shift and change. Fully awake, the Oracle began to cast out its own response, filaments of white light unfurling, in a quest to find the Huntress before the Darkness did.
It's Summer! Time to Delve Into LUCID, A Teen Fantasy Adventure
Today I am helping the wild and adventurous L.E. Fred
celebrate the one-year anniversary of her Young Adult novel Lucid.
Great cover, right? Here's the storyline:
Devon Alexander is a 15 year-old teenager coping with the monotonous reality of his average life. His life receives an interesting reprieve as he has his first realistic dream of a spaceship. The strangest thing about the dream is that he seems to be the only one on board who isn’t in a dream-like trance. Before he can figure out anything about the dream or his strange shipmates, he manages to wake up. The next day, Devon catches a news story about inexplicable comas taking place all over the world. Devon’s life becomes increasingly interesting as he recognizes some of the victims from his spaceship trip.
Devon and an unlikely group of other teens start devising a plan to find out who is behind the strange dreams and the comas. Their plan is not only successful but immerses them in to the fantastical world that only resides in dreams. While in the dream world, the teens learn about the power of teamwork, a new world of culture, and their hidden potential to be heroes.
Suspenseful, funny at the worst times, and just a hint of teenage romance, Lucid takes a group of young adults and throws them into a fantasy world that they only thought could exist in their dreams. In a sense, they’re right.
Now for some questions!
What inspired the creation of Lucid?
I started writing Lucid after experiencing my first lucid dream. It’s a very out-of-body and surreal experience. We’re used to dreaming every night, but being able to control your actions and fate in the dream world is almost a magical thing. After figuring out how to wake up (yes, you have to oftentimes find your way out of the dreams,) I started pondering the idea of a dream world actually existing, and before I knew it, I had Devon and the plot for Lucid.
You write from the P.O.V. of a 15 year-old boy. Is there anyone who shaped Devon’s character as the protagonist.
A wonderful counselor-in-training that I worked with actually inspired Devon’s character. Real-life Devon, who shall be nameless, was one of those campers that turned into a CIT when he outgrew the camp’s age groups. I never went to summer camp as a child, so working at one was a very interesting experience. I got to witness real-life Devon change from being a happy-go-lucky camper to a miserable CIT. As for Devon’s personality, that was shaped by my own sense of humor. I wrote Lucid through Devon’s eyes, and my own commentary sort of slipped through. It fit his sarcastic nature, though, and rereading some parts still makes me laugh.
 What about the villains? How did they come to be?
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by mythological monsters. There seems to be a common thread of villainous snakes and lions. A chimera combines these two deadly creatures, along with a goat, into one evil creature. I liked the idea of having three diverse villains; the more you get to know a villain, the scarier they can become for the reader and the heroes. As I wrote, Serpentine, Gruff, and Leona, seemed to appear out of nowhere to fit the evil villain’s roles. The Nightmares were a little trickier. I thought long and hard about how they should be portrayed, and I eventually started combining features of animals and creatures that people feared the most into one character. That’s why they have shark teeth and devil horns.
Lucid is your first novel. Are you currently working on anything else?
A: Since Devon and his friends’ story didn’t want to finish at the end of Lucid, I’m currently working on the sequel. The story will continue our heroes’ adventure, but you’ll get to hear from other characters in it. It will also have much more of a fantasy element with an even crazier cast of characters. Aside from Lucid, I’m working on two more stories, both in the YA fiction genre.
 What inspired you to write YA fiction?
A: I’m a teacher, so I love working with young adults and teens. I’ve seen the power of books transform kids’ ways of thinking about the world and boost confidence. Never underestimate the power of reading. I know it played an important role in shaping my future, and I hope to reach out to as many young adults to inspire them to find their inner heroes and go change the world for the better.
And that is why I love and respect teachers!
Here's the book trailer.
   Excerpt:
I know that most adventure/fantasy/whatever-you-would-like-to–call-these-stories start with something magical, but my story starts with something ordinary, dreams. I’m talking about the “I’m taking a test and don’t realize I’m in my underwear” kind of dreams. We have them every night, whether we remember them or not. Sometimes they leave us waking up with excitement or inspiration. Sometimes they cause us to wake with a shriek and to look around our rooms. Sometimes they leave us waking up confused or ashamed. These experiences are probably commonplace for most people, but I doubt any of you could ever say your dreams caused you to stay asleep for a long period of time.
            What if your dreams made you disappear?
Spell Struck Gets a Movie
Technically, it's more of a book trailer than a movie, and no, there wasn't a red carpet or glam stars. But Brilliant Beautiful Daughter and I were in a triumphant mood after we finished our first Moon Maiden Production. With two books published in rapid succession - Spell Struck then Spell Fire, I didn't want
Salem's and Aidan's story to be overlooked. So here it is, told in slightly over a minute.
